What did they resolve after that high-level meeting in Nyeri? That security and armed men are the solution to our drinking and illicit-drugs problem. That we expect the Chief and the O.C.S to shut-down their lucrative source of income to save those they consciously kill. When we make the wrong diagnosis, our prescription guarantees a date with the deathbed. When our efforts are not concerted on all fronts, ours become an attempt to fill a leaking bucket. I dare say, it’s not the number of liquor stores or bars that need fixing but the drinker. For a single den will still quench a million thirsts as it’s practically impossible to police every ethanol-beaker and drum no matter how stern the warning or dire the consequence. The educated drinker is here not for thirst of liquor but that of a job. It’s not that they are not able to go to work because they are drunk, they are drunk because they didn’t get the work we promised them as a society after graduation.
